While Covid means a lot of changes to life, it didn’t change that I love being able to show my appreciate and love for people through photography. As a Thank You for all the help the Redford family gave us when I was so sick while pregnant with Molly, I offered Payson AZ Senior Photos to Seth, their graduating son. I was so excited when he took me up on the offer and was game for a new spot in Payson that I was wanting to shoot at!
As the Redfords are family friends, and the kids needed some outdoor time, we decided to meet him out at the location as a family. Then, while I photographed the kids and Cameron could hike and explore. As soon as Seth pulled up, Darrow pulled out his coolest lingo. “Seth, my man! What is up bro?!” Seth just grinned and replied with the same warmth and excitement and you could see Darrow soak it all in. Makes my Momma heart a puddle when I see kids, especially older kids, build up these little guys that way!
We started at the base of the rocks while we had a little bit of sunlight poking through the clouds. I don’t know what it is about me…I feel like the AZ skies are clear and blue until I have a photography session and then it’s cloudy. BUT! That means I’ve really learned how to shoot well in clouds. Sometimes it would just be fun to have sun to play in too. I was grateful that we had some of both during Seth’s session!
When it was time to head up onto the rocks, we went ahead with the second outfit Seth brought. I LOVED the way the colors in the plaid shirt played off the rocks. It really was the perfect match. Seth was so chill, so fun, and up for any idea.
As we were walking out to the edge we got to this oak tree and I knew we had to stop. The light filtering through the golden leaves was just so beautiful! Here in Payzon AZ we have two seasons where the leaves fall. Autumn, like everyone else, and Spring when the oak leaves turn golden and fall. We just happened to hit on the time when the oak leaves were dropping and it made for some magic here in the light!
And really, is it a true high school senior session if we don’t include the cap or gown?! Nope! Seth pulled out his Longhorn Graduation Gown and we grabbed some shots in the soft sunset (again, I do really love how the clouds soften up this AZ light!).
After a few shots in the gown, we grabbed a few shots with his girlfriend who came along for the pictures. She was delightful and even built fairy houses with Ione along the way.
I absolutely LOVE this entire gallery. Seth was so fun and easy to work with, was totally chill when the kids decided to tag along with us instead of hike with Dad (Seth and Jordyn were just that cool), and I love the magic we were able to create together with the pictures. Thanks for trusting me with these pictures, Seth!
