Information about the Mogollon Rim

• Nearest Town: Forest Lakes, AZ
  • This location is a 45 minute drive from Payson, AZ. It is a very popular spot, especially around sunset, but we can usually find us a clear spot for portraits. You can drive right up to the vista point on the Rim where there is a little walking trail and the rim rocks.
  • There are no parking or visiting fees for the Rim!
• Best time of day: This location can work at any time of day, but if you want soft light then sunrise or within an hour before sunset works best.
• This location is sometimes not accessible in the winter. The road is generally open until January or major snow (whichever comes first) and then the Forest Service closes the area.
• This location can experience some windy weather, but that makes for some great hair and flowing skirt action!
• The Mogollon Rim location is only about 9 minutes away from the Rim Lakes. These two locations pair really well for a session if you want to get portraits at both (as you can see in the sessions linked below).
