What do you do when you plan Mogollon Rim family photos and then you get to the final road to your destination and in the past week the Forest Service has closed that road for the foreseeable future?! You improvise!
This is exactly what happened to us here. The location was scouted and picked and accessible one week, and the next it was not. So we found a parking pull out, walked up a hill, and found a spot that overlooked a different part of the Mogollon Rim for the family session and big baby reveal!
My friend let me know quite a bit before that she was expecting, but didn’t know how or when to tell her kids but she knew she wanted to record it somehow. An idea hit! “You have family photos coming up! Let’s do it then!!”
So we did a combined family session and baby announcement, and it was a blast!
Sometimes the toddlers just aren’t into the photos. At all. And that’s okay! We’ll make it work, we’ll take snack breaks, we’ll play, and we’ll find a way to get the shots. Including one of them sitting in the path crying, because someday you will laugh looking back at it!
These two sisters are so much fun! After their mom died Mikaela brought her little sister into their home to live and watching their relationship is so special!
Ok…are you ready for this?! I wish I had audio so you could here the reactions echoing off the cliffs.
Mogollon Rim Baby Announcement
First, anticipation…something is going on, but they don’t know what.
And then confusion…
And then….

Realization and excitement!
I love seeing the range of emotions here. All emotions are welcome and ok! From deciding you are a little freaked out and not wanting to look at the ultrasound picture anymore to can’t quit looking at the picture and grinning. Both are such sweet memories!
I always get a few shots of Mom and Dad just by themselves during a family session. Couples need that reminder that they are sweethearts still! We’d just done anniversary photos (which I can’t wait to show you! We’re waiting for their anniversary to hit before those go up on the blog), so we didn’t do extensive couples shots but we definitely got a few in there. It’s good for the kids to see that too!
