Sara’s Grad Photos

Sara got to break in the New Year for me as my first session of 2022 for her Grad Photos. She just graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University and it was so fun to talk about college, English majors, and Payson life together.

We went to the Houston Mesa Rim (or the Mini Rim as I sometimes call it) to get the Payson views without the drive to the Rim, but to change it up from the usual Green Valley Park that gets used so often for Grad Photos.

We started with a few photos as we walked up the trail towards the rim edge. The rock shelves here make for natural and engaging places to sit for a minute as you work your way up.

Rather than bring full changes of outfits for her pictures, Sara decided to change things up with the coats and boots that she wore. First up was her “Detective Coat”, as she calls it, and it was FUN and dynamic to pose and play with.

It really was interesting to me to see how much just changing jackets and boots changed up the look of the photos. This black jacket really brought a whole different feel to the next set of photos!

Look at that gold light shining through her hair!! She is gorgeous!

We used the first part of the time using the trees and grass to diffuse the light as we waited for the sun to get to the right place for the wide angle shots. The southern position of the sun this time of year always makes me stop and rethink things a few times, but it’s so good to keep me on my toes and make sure I’m delivering fresh photos for you that aren’t cookie cutter shots to everything other session I do.

Of course we couldn’t finish before getting a photo “on the edge”. (I always find a safe spot where I can make it look more on the edge than it really is because safety is way more important than a crazy shot!!) This view never ever gets old!

Sara, congratulations on your graduation! Can’t wait to see where your path goes now!
