Can you think of a better way to spend a Tuesday evening than at the Cabins on Strawberry Hill with the sweetest couple, their kind friends, and a rockin’ vendor team?! I can’t! Austin and Stevee got married this week in Strawberry, AZ on the most perfect weather blessed day in the middle of the week (I could get used to weekday weddings!!).
Austin and Stevee’s invitation suite was gorgeous! I loved the simplicity, yet all the special details on it. It was definitely one of my all time favorites!
Wedding boots…oh my country heart always does a happy jig when wedding boots are pulled out. I love it!
Wait until you see the hairpiece in Stevee’s hair!!!
Stasha blows my mind every time with her Sola Wood floral arrangements. They are perfect and every single one I see I’m sure is my favorite. She did all the florals for this wedding and were incredible.
I didn’t realize that as I was styling and shooting the dress, that the bridesmaids getting ready in the cabin were watching and getting excited!
That’s the look of an excited bride right there! Every detail of her hair and makeup was just how Stevee had hoped.
Being with the bride and groom as they each get ready with their entourage is such a neat part of the day to get to experience. They are excited, nervous, worried, and happy! Seeing their friends and family dote on them and come together to help their day roll smooth is amazing.
Stevee’s Mother was able to come and put the final touches, Stevee’s gorgeous necklace, on her daughter before a special First Look.
Are you ready for the special First Look?
Jeff was so full of joyful smiles as he saw Stevee for the first time! And standing in the sun there, his eyes got a little sweaty even. 😉 It was tender, beautiful, and full of smiles! Stevee had a special photo of her and her dad at his own wedding sewn into his tie as a special gift for the day.
As Austin and Stevee were not seeing each other before the ceremony, we had to do some shuffling around and careful planning to make sure that all the pictures happened on time without them crossing paths. It worked out fabulous and was fun to keep things rolling secret mission style. Once we got Stevee tucked back away in her cabin it was time for the Groomsmen photos!
I have to tell you what nice guys these are. Groomsmen have a reputation for being notoriously rowdy. These guys ran errands, kept the show running, and didn’t even tease me when many other groups of groomsmen would have. I was helping pin on the boutonnieres and tiny dried flowers (that had curled into balls) kept falling off if touched. “Dang it…these balls keep dropping.” My brain couldn’t stop my mouth before the words came out. And they were gentlemen and just didn’t say a thing to me about it, didn’t even snigger then and there. That won them big brownie points in my book!
The ceremony was held in the gorgeous tree lined aisle between the cabins. The light there is magical and hearing the leaves rustle overhead is so calming.
That canvas looked like it was glowing the way the light hit it!
Austin couldn’t take his eyes off Stevee, it was so sweet!
After the ceremony the guests were greeted with a huge charcuterie table cocktail hour. It was a hit! Stasha and her Mom had it set perfectly!
While their guests mingled at cocktail hour, we were able to hit three little spots on the property for Austin and Stevee’s sunset Bride and Groom portraits. The forest just glows there at the cabins!
Don’t we all wish we looked that regal walking down stairs?!
As we walked to the spot in the forest, I hoped the tall grass was still there from a few months before. There was one patch left! And Stevee saw it and got excited and didn’t bat an eye that she had to navigate going down the mountain hill in her heels and dress to get to the grass. Boy I’m glad we did…I LOVE these shots!
Walking back down to join cocktail hour, we couldn’t NOT get a shot here in the manzanita with the lit up ramada behind!
Dinner was scrumptious!! Perfectly warm, tasty, and filling. Fat Freddy’s nails it every time!
The toasts were sweet, sentimental, touches of humor, and not longwinded. Beautiful tributes to Austin and Stevee and who they are as individuals and a couple. I seriously get to work with the sweetest and best couples ever!
More sweaty eyes (and not just by Dad this time)! I think I’ll always tear up at Mother/Son dances now. So many misty eyes as these dances went on.
They were so nice to each other with the cake! It was adorable. And then…of course…it was dancin’ time!
One tradition I love during the reception is the “Last Couple Dancing”. I’m not sure what it’s actually called, but that’s what I call it. All married couples start out on the dance floor and slowly couples end up sitting down when their anniversary year is called. The last couple dancing have celebrated 60 years married!
The bouquet toss cracked us all up. It was only slightly rigged with a friend catching it and passing it to one of the bridesmaids. Her sweetheart at the bridal party table got razzed a bit about that, but they were both grinning!
This wedding had a few firsts for me…like this bubble dance!! How fun is this?!
Rather than a sparkler exit, these two opted for a celebration tunnel with fiberoptic wand lights. It was awesome!! Fire restrictions from the forest service could be maintained, clean up was easy, no lighting of sparklers, and everyone was excited to dance after!
Austin and Stevee, it has been an absolute blast working with the two of you. The joy you have is evident and soaks into everyone that comes close to you. I loved seeing your eyes light up when you saw each other and how your friends and family buoyed you up all day. You two are gems!
