You really couldn’t have asked for a prettier morning for a Mesa Temple wedding! With a first look at 7:30am, I got there early to pick a spot and to check the light and had to snap the above shot right away. It was gorgeous (even if it was humid…humid for AZ)!!
Abby and Connor decided to start their day with a First Look and portraits before it got hot and to save them time later. The grounds were mostly empty, the sun was filtered beautifully by the clouds, and they were so ready and excited!
I loved watching them share those first moments together for their first look! After the groom turns around I always back away and get candid shots, leaving the couple to interact more naturally and have those moments to themselves to talk, hug, cry, spin, walk, and just be together before a busy day.
When the Bride and Groom are ready, they let me know they’re done with their first look and we move into portraits!
Temple wedding ceremonies, called Sealings, are limited to close family and friends who are members of the church. No photography is permitted as these short and simple but beautiful ceremonies are very sacred. So the first time some of the friends and younger family, who aren’t yet able to go in the temple, get to see the Bride and Groom is when they exit the temple as Man and Wife. It’s a fun time for couples to greet the family and to share their excitement! (If you want to see photos of the interior of the Mesa Temple, you can find them at this article here: https://www.ldsliving.com/mesa-arizona-temple-to-reopen-after-3-years-see-interior-renderings-open-house-dates-here/s/94457.)
Connor and Abby are both from Payson, so they returned “up the hill” for their wedding reception that evening. The room was packed clear full!! It was so fun to feel the celebratory joy in the air and to see the smiles and support for them.
As guests cleared the reception, to line up for the sparkler exit, Abby and Connor shared a dance with just them (well, and me) in the reception. It was such a fun idea to give them a special moment while everyone got ready with the sparklers!
Abby and Connor, you guys are gems! From the moment I learned you two were dating I crossed my fingers that you would end up promising eternity with each other. You are kind, strong, dynamic, and incredible. We’ve loved each of you from the moment we met you, and having two such amazing people together just makes us all the more excited for you! I can’t wait to see your life adventures unfold and how you quest through them together. Love you both!
