I was extra excited for these Red Knolls Family Photos. Why? Ricky and Dahana are some of my past Prickly Pear VIP wedding clients!! I first met them in 2018 for their vintage pie cafe inspired engagement session. Late that year we met up for their gorgeous Phoenix wedding.
(If you’ve been around a while you know I took a business break for family health in 2019 and shut down my blog and site for that period of time. Their wedding was just before my business break, so their wedding and engagement session blog posts are in my archives. It’s one of the projects on my list to go back through the archives and getting old posts back live!)
In the years since their wedding we’ve been to each other’s baby showers, have both experienced the loss of someone close to us, and keep in contact through social media. So when Dahana message that she’d researched locations here in our new area and that they’d like to drive down for their first “party of 3” family photos, I was all in!
This was the first time that Baby Ricky and I got to meet. And I’m smitten! He’s absolutely adorable and such a handsome little man.
We always make time during family sessions for Mom and Dad to steal some moments as Husband and Wife. These two still look at each other so adoringly! I just love being around them!
Little Ricky’s teeth had begun to bother him, but he couldn’t resist giggling and laughing when Dad played peek-a-boo from behind the hill. He LOVED it! And I have to brag on Dahana and Ricky…I saw this spot part way up the hill and said something along the lines of, “Oh dang, I wish that were a little lower down the side!” That was quickly followed by Dahana: “We can climb up there!” And they did!
While walking back to the car for an outfit change I glanced over and saw the incredible view and we had to stop. I was worried if we waited until after the outfit change that the we’d miss that light. Totally worth the quick stop to grab the shots!
It’s crazy to me that this is still the same location, just a different view. Another perk to having Red Knolls family photos! There really is so much more variety there than first meets the eye. I love the autumn country vibe of the fence, the distant mountains, the grass, and their outfits!
I LOVE that photo above. LOVE LOVE LOVE it! You’d never guess we were doing everything we could to get a smile from Ricky and trying to not get eaten alive by mosquitoes. We were only there at that spot for maybe 5 minutes and still got a ton of amazing photos.
Ricky, Dahana, and Little Ricky…it was so sweet to get to see you all! Little Ricky is a doll, I’m totally smitten with him. I am so honored that you would drive all the way down and back to do pictures here with me. You guys are such an incredible couple and a beautiful family. Can’t wait to see you all again!
