There is a story to every wedding, and this Mesa Temple Wedding has so many fun layers. It was a day to remember for sure!
When we lived in Payson, Cameron taught an early morning religion class for the high schoolers, and Emma was one of his students. It made this wedding all the more sweet to be able to have both Cameron and I there to celebrate with them!
We started with a sunrise First Look (to escape the worst of the heat and to get that gorgeous first light glow). My jaw dropped when I saw Emma. Her dress, her flowers, and her veil were all absolutely perfect! I commented on them all day long. So fun to play with in the photos!
Aren’t these two sweet?! And I love his first peek there at her veil. Isn’t it awesome?!
After they had some time for their First Look, we moved into Bride and Groom portraits around the grounds. You’d be hard pressed to find prettier grounds for wedding portraits. These were immaculate and gorgeous.
We had to start with the big reflection pool. Can’t miss those shots!
And even though it was still early morning, we were all sweating like crazy (Mesa in July is no joke). So we moved to the entrance side where we had a bit of shade left.
And of course, the cacti. I asked if they liked the cacti or if it was “meh” for them. “We NEED the cacti. Yes!” Josh is from Alaska, so the cacti is definitely something out of the norm and something we needed to include in their photos.
All the fans. Did I mention that July in Mesa is no joke? It was already hot and humid (hey…humid for Mesa).
And check out these cool shoes!!!!
We finished their portraits and they went inside to cool off and prep for the wedding ceremony. While we had some time to kill until their ceremony, Cameron and I went and found the yummiest little crepe shop! If you’re ever in downtown Mesa, you need to try The Crepe Club!
There is no photography done inside Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, so the next big photo moment for couples is when they exit the Temple as Husband and Wife to their cheering friends and family. It’s always a fun moment!
We moved everyone around the side for the big group shot, and then as soon as we could fit groups in a smaller space we went down to the trees for a bit of shade. The sun was brutal. It didn’t take long before we called it for the health and safety of everyone there as heat exhaustion was setting in fast. Photos are never worth putting people in danger for.
Josh and Emma’s reception was held later that evening in Payson, AZ where even more friends and family gathered to celebrate and party.
At the beginning of the reception, I snagged the wedding party for some quick group photos (since we cut those out due to heat earlier in the day). They were all so cute and up for any shenanigans.
Josh’s sister stepped in for the dance with Josh so his Mom could spend more time recovering from her experience with the AZ heat (we’re sorry our new Alaska friends! Come visit in the winter…it’s phenomenal).
Emma’s mom made this fabulous cake!! Almond, Lemon, and Red Velvet Coconut. It was scrumptious!
And then it was time to wrap it up and send the two love birds on their honeymoon. The wind carried a lot of the bubbles away, but we all had fun anyway!
Emma and Josh, you two make such a striking and strong couple. Cameron and I both were so impressed with you and the sweet feeling you have about you. We’re excited for your adventures and can’t wait to see what adventures you two have. Love you guys!
