Shannon and Kendall’s Spring Star Barn Wedding was such a classy, western, fun, and gorgeous day. The wind held off for most of the day (it got a bit blustery during the ceremony and right after, but it could be SO MUCH worse this time of year, so we’re grateful it was a little and not a lot), the guests were ready to celebrate, the couple was laid back and excited, and everything meshed amazingly!
Their details were simple yet completely stunning! Every piece was perfect from her grandmother’s jewelry to the sleek ring box, it really couldn’t have gone together better.
Check out these tooled shoes that she got to go with the bouquet wrap one of her bridesmaids gifted her!
Normally the whole bridal party is in the bride room and girls dressing room getting ready all together, but for this wedding they pulled an RV in for the girls to all hang out in when they weren’t in the hair or makeup chairs. It made everything so nice and relaxed feeling!
After getting everyone through the skilled hands of the hair and makeup artists, we got them together for a quick PJ picture before everyone went off to get dressed and prep for the dress reveal to the bridesmaids.
These sweet moments between mom and daughter are some of my favorites every time. They were so tender together.
The bridesmaids had seen the dress, but not the whole ensemble put together. It was a hit!
The Groom and Groomsmen prepped mostly off site, but we couldn’t pass up getting the last minute adjustments and his time hanging out with his guys.
Kendall and his mom Kelly had seen each other already, but we wanted a moment specifically for them that morning. Giving her the chance to put the finishing touch on her boy’s wedding ensemble and to have a moment to hug him really was a sweet moment to get to watch. I sure want to do this at Darrow’s wedding someday!
Shannon and Kendall opted to not see each other before the wedding but they still wanted to privately exchange vows. She had a vision for the spot, but guests were already starting to arrive so her girls stepped into action, cleared the spot, and stood guard to make sure these two were able to have a sweet moment together before the ceremony.
Mario was so fun all morning. He was always nearby, ready and waiting to see his baby girl. He was so good natured anytime we had to move him out of sight for other pictures, and was definitely excited when it was his turn!
I love that they chose to have the ceremony face Red Knolls. It makes for gorgeous light, and is a great backdrop.
The morning was fairly still, but by the time the ceremony started a little breeze had started up. It kept everyone cool, but definitely played havoc with hair and dresses a bit. Nothing these troopers couldn’t handle though!
I LOVE the adorable Mom look Kelly is giving her boy. It’s perfect and has so much emotion in it!
Oh these cute kids! Kinzlee was adorable. Earlier that morning she asked if I’d walk down the aisle with her because she was nervous and my heart broke a little that I couldn’t go with her. But I loved getting to grin, give her thumbs ups, and catch her eye as she ROCKED her flower girl role. What a sweetheart!
And then it was time.
Ok…if you’ve been here or on my Instagram long at all, you know I hate and love the wind. Yes, it’s obnoxious and causes problems…but also it can create magic for photos. Check out her veil magic all through the ceremony!
Aren’t they gorgeous?! Oh I love this couple and this family!
It was fun to discover that not only were some of her bridesmaids from New Mexico, but that the towns we grew up in are in the same part of the state. The fact that they know where Edgewood is and that I know where Estancia is…that’s instant NM bonding.
Red Knolls really is such a cool spot! I love getting to work out there with clients.
Here’s a plug for adding a second shooter to your Star Barn Wedding packages…while my amazing second shooter was getting these awesome sun flare photos, I was able to back up and shoot through the sun lit grass for two sets of photos different from each other but each still so pretty and cohesive together!
Check out the new barn doors on the wall there! They look so good and add so much character!!
Charcuterie boxes and mini succulents for each guest? Yes please!!
Going straight from the Grand Entrance into the Bride and Groom First Dance is an amazing way to keep the energy up. Instead of getting everyone hyped up and then telling them to sit down and wait for dinner, you get them hyped up and they stay extra invested in the First Dance. It’s my favorite flow!
Right after the First Dance, while dinner was starting to be served, we ran outside for some quick Bride and Groom photos in blue hour (post sunset light). Then we all went back in for the AMAZING food by Cooper’s BBQ.

Kendall and Shannon, this has been a blast! Your kids are adorable and were SO GOOD all day. Your family is so friendly and kind. Your wedding party was on the ball and were a hoot to watch. Kinzlee coming up to me multiple times during the day to visit or give me a hug just melted my heart completely. Thank you for inviting me into this chapter of your love story!
