Do you remember Donald and Terena’s Backyard wedding from last year? It was a beautiful ceremony in Payson, AZ when Covid changed their original wedding plans for their Gilbert Temple Sealing.
This year, for their 1st anniversary, Donald and Terena were able to finally have their reception and to have their religious ceremony. In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints couples can be sealed not just for time, but for all eternity in the church Temples. At the time of their wedding the temples were closed, so they had their civil ceremony and waited a year until the temples were open and could attend for their sealing.
It was so amazing to get to capture both their civil ceremony and their temple portraits! (Photography inside temples is not allowed, so couples get portraits outside the temple either before or after their wedding). I loved getting to see them again, party with their family again, and to have them in front of my camera again!
Reception
They held their reception at a local church building where friends and family could come together to celebrate, dance, and be together.
The dividers that closed off the cultural hall from the chapel was stuck and wouldn’t close all the way. The brothers weren’t content with almost closed. They found a ladder and a broom and were able to fix the jam! I love seeing family come together to solve problems!
Their guest book was a Jenga set! How fun is that?! The idea of being able to play and remember all the people who love them is such a great strength!
Terena’s brother made their cake topper, and her sister made the cupcakes!
I love when couples let me try creative shots! See them refracted in the cup?!
