There are times when a couple or family only need a part of a wedding day photographed and I was so happy I could jump in and capture this Gilbert, AZ Backyard Wedding Reception for Porter & Ashley!
Rain threatened off and on all day, but everyone just kept their fingers crossed and it worked out pretty well!
I was able to get to the reception site before the families arrived. This made it so easy to get the big shots and detail photos. I also discovered orange blossoms and that I could put one between the layers in my mask and smell the blossom all night long!! That was heavenly!
Once the families showed up we were able to capture the family portraits and some quick bride and groom shots before the guests began arriving.
Recognize the beauty on the far left in the photo below? That’s Stephanie, a former bride of mine!! And just to the right of Stephanie is Liz, a former senior client of mine. I love it when a clan comes together!
Mexican sodas and nachos at a wedding reception?! I’m there! This added such a fun party atmosphere!
The rain held off…mostly. It began to lightly sprinkle as the special dances began, but they kept on dancing and partying.
As the guests were lining up for the sparkler exit, the rain finally let loose and began to UNLOAD. Often couples can run through the sparklers a few times, but with the rain we had one shot, and really I think it made for a unique photo with the light refracting through the rain drops!
