This Mt Graham Waterfall Engagement Session had my heart from the very first hello on Instagram. When you get an inquiry that includes this line: “My cousin had you take their photos and they are still the pictures of my dreams!” you know you’ve connected with a golden client!!
Kacey and Blaine made the drive out from the Phoenix Valley and Benson to meet me at the trailhead to the waterfall and instantly you could feel the connection between these two and how comfortable it is to be around them. The conversation flowed easily with them, and they are just delightful!
Getting to hear the “how we met” story in person is always one of my favorite parts of meeting my couples for the first time. Seeing how they team up to tell it, the laughs, and how everything came together is always so fun and helps me learn more about their story, their chemistry, and the little things I can implement into their photos.
Their story is one of those meant to be stories, and I loved hearing how all the pieces have come together for them.
They hardly needed the sun peeking through the clouds to make them glow…they just lit up every time they looked at each other.
This grass was incredible!! Look how tall and lush it is!!!
We started at the Mt Graham Waterfall (ok…confession, I’m not sure what the name of the waterfall is!) where the light would disappear first, then worked out way back out. It’s so interesting to see how spring creeps into the area with the wildflowers and leafed out trees at the creek, but things just starting to pop up out in the desert areas.
We had to finish off with the sweeping views of the Gila Valley in the back. I love this view and how the light plays along all the layers! It’s the perfect spot for the final big kiss photo.
On the way back down the mountain I realized I hadn’t seen them pull out behind me or come around the curve. After waiting a little while I wondered if I’d forgotten to give them their keys back (since we’d put all the extra odds and ends in my bags as we moved around for photos). I drove back up and saw the truck still parked there and pulled up with our windows even. They were sitting there eating snacks but hadn’t heard me pull up and I may or may not have ended up scaring them pretty good when they looked up. We all laughed, they told me another story about someone popping up in the truck window on a late drive through Flagstaff, and then I left them to their snack happiness, lol.
Blaine and Kacey, it was such an absolute joy to meet you and spend time with you! I enjoyed every moment of it. Thanks for not rolling your eyes at my mom moment of driving back to check on you guys! I loved hearing your story, learning about your family, and getting know the two of you. I can’t wait to see you again for your bridals and wedding!
