I’ve been excited for this Los Olmos Lodge Wedding for what feels like forever! When you have a couple that is as sweet as they come, the groom’s mom is an amazing wedding planner, and the families are top notch…you know it’s going to be a good one. Plus, it was on our anniversary…so obviously they picked the best day ever and their marriage is destined for greatness. 😉
Someone pinch me…two colorful weddings in a row?! I’m in heaven. I absolutely loved the details Kaycee and Josh brought and tying in their wooden florals and tones.
Josh and Kaycee sent gifts to each other to be opened while they were getting ready. Family heirloom turquoise that he had set and the coolest engraved belt! These two know how to spoil each other.
As part of the decor, they had sheds that Josh had found, so we had to pull those in for the groom details shots of course!
Kaycee and her girls got ready in the main lodge. The light was fun, the cooler was on, the mimosa/juice bar was tasty, and the flow was smooth.
And then it was time to show the girls the full ensemble!
Josh and Kaycee weren’t doing a First Look together, so they decided to do ones with Kaycee’s Dad and Josh’s Mom. It was a nice touch to the day and a great way to lead into their hidden vow exchange.
They didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony, but wanted to exchange vows in private. So we found them one of the cabins to the side where they could each hide around a corner and share vows. They asked that we stand back so we were totally out of hearing, and we’re happy to do so. It made us really look for neat angles and composition that still showed them and the moment, but gave them all the privacy.
Kayce and Josh told me that they “wanted to have the feeling of where all of our guests could be together. Our vision was to have our ceremony within a meadow, and the fact that we have been able to incorporate that and even more is wonderful!” Los Olmos was an amazing venue for them and for the family gathering in. The cabins were cozy and kept everyone on site, the meadow felt private and wild without a major hike, and the weather was definitely better than down in the Gila Valley!
As the guests waited for the processional to be ready, the officiant asked them all to pull out their phones, take a selfie and text it to the bride or groom, and then to put their phones away. It was fun to watch everyone and was a great way to announce a phone free ceremony.
I love watching the parent emotions in the ceremony!
The chair with the extra flowers for passed on loved ones, it always touches my heart.
During their ceremony, Josh and Kaycee and a Mimosa Unity Ceremony. Kaycee told me that “the champagne represents the sparkle and excitement of our love, while the orange juice represents the sweetness and substance of our relationship. Together, they create something greater than either could be alone — a reflection of our union.”
And….Husband and Wife!
While guests were at cocktail hour, we took the bride and groom around the meadow and stream for their official portraits. These two are pros and make it all so fun and easy!
I got done with these photos only to look over and see my second shooter climbing up in a tree above the water so she could get a fun second angle. I helped the bride and groom get into a good location and Mikaela grabbed some fun angles!
At the other end of the meadow from the ceremony, they set up a reception tent for the party and dinner. It kept everything outdoors but still cozy and out of the sun.
Kaycee had her elementary students write out marriage advice and definitions of love and displayed those on a board at the wedding. It was adorable!
I love when couples go from the Grand Entrance straight into their First Dance. Energy stays high, everyone is gathered, and the light is golden. It’s always so fun!
After dinner (which was beef raised by the groom’s family on their farm, cooked by the father of the groom, and paired with the family secret recipe bbq sauce…oh man it was incredible) toasts began, and they were so heartfelt and perfect. A touch of humor and a whole lotta heart!
Guys…this was so fun! Hand pies and mini cobblers (made by the mother of the groom, sister of the groom, mother of the bride, and aunt of the bride) along with the scrumptious wedding cake by Torey (who only come out of cake retirement for special people in her life, so this was a treat!) were an amazing combination and such a hit. I may need to see if they’ll share the family cobbler recipe…it was so good!
This touch of adding in pictures of the parent’s wedding cake cutting is my favorite. Such a beautiful addition visually and sentimentally!! It might be the only thing that makes me even slightly regret having a rice krispie treat cake (which we couldn’t so didn’t cut, lol). But I have pictures of our “cake”, so that’ll have to do!
And then it was full on party time!
Josh and Kaycee, this was an incredible day from start to finish. Your families are amazing and so dear to me. We felt like part of the family all day and loved watching everyone love on you. It was obvious that you make everyone around you feel like family. What a gift! It was a beautiful start to what I know will be a beautiful marriage! Love you two!
