I know…when it comes to choosing a photographer you have a plethora of options. In town photographers, out of town photographers, newbies, seasoned pros, natural light shooters, studio shooters, etc. Does it really matter who you choose as long as the price is right? I think it does!
I’ve written this series to walk you though how to find the best photographer for you! (Links to the rest of the series are at the bottom of this post!)
Know the Photographer’s Pricing Structure
Know exactly what services/products are included so you don’t have any surprises like paying, having photos done, and then realizing you still have to pay more to download or print photos. There are many different pricing structures from sitting fees, retainers, payment plans, in-person sales, free downloads, etc. Make sure you understand what you are paying for to avoid frustration for you and the photographer.
Marquette LaRee: I require a 25% retainer to book a session or wedding date. The remaining fees can be paid in increments or all at one time prior to the shoot. Every client receives an online gallery with download and printing rights to the photos. No RAW files are ever given out (RAW is the type of file and is an unfinished unprintable photo format. I edit from RAW files to preserve color and light while editing and convert all files to high resolution JPGs to give to clients). Within the galleries clients can order photo prints, canvases, cards or books. Photo Albums can be ordered straight through me.
With the posts in this series you have all the tools you need to find the best photographer for you!
