I am so excited to share these Payson AZ Couple’s photos with you! There is a reason I say on my website that Payson is where the Prickly Pear meets the Pine. Right in town we have both. To the north we have the gorgeous Rim and the ponderosa pine forest. To the south is the Juniper and Oak country that runs right into the beautiful upper Sonoran Desert. We seriously get the best of both worlds here.
I had my business on break for all of 2019. While on break I wanted to keep up my skills and do some of the shoots I’d been dreaming up for a few years. This was finally the year I was going to to get a couple out with all the Prickly Pear blossoms.
Timing that was trickier than I thought it would be! It felt like they were in bud for so long before they finally bloomed. Liesl and Eric were so sweet to wait until the blooms were just right. We postponed at least once so that we could go spend an evening in the Prickly Pear blooms!
Even though we don’t live somewhere big or crazy, this was the first time I’d met Eric in person. It was also the first time I’d spent any real time around them as a couple. We had a fun time visiting, getting to know each other, swapping homeschool experiences, and just enjoying the evening!
Eric and Liesl have since moved on from Payson and are expecting a cute little girl to join their family any day now! Her two older brothers are going to be the best little protectors ever!
Shooting in cloud cover is not anything new for me. It’s actually kinda uncanny how often I shoot in total cloud cover for someone living in Arizona. So going into this session I wasn’t worried at all. We made the most of the light we were given and I still just LOVE how the images turned out.
And then, for about 3-5 minutes the sun dipped below the clouds before setting and we had the most incredible golden light to play in. I was shooting like a mad woman trying to use all that golden time to the max.
Really, I felt like we got the best of both worlds!
Eric and Liesl, I know this is now over a year past, but I still love the magic we were all able to create together! Thank you so much for helping me make this shoot come to life and for the time together. I enjoyed it all so much and still just love the images and memories. Can’t wait to virtually meet your sweet baby!
