I have talked about why wedding Details even matter. Because they do. They really do! And I even told a great story about Goldilocks to illustrate. If you missed that head over and then come on back!

Gathering details can stress some couples out, but it doesn’t have to! Today I’m going to take you through a basic “list” of ideas to consider for the most common details to have ready for grooms! Read through to the bottom too for one great tip that will help you get even better detail shots AND lower your stress the morning of your wedding!

BELT OR SUSPENDERS

I’ll start with the one that seems to surprise grooms the most when it comes to details wanted for pictures: the things that hold your pants up. Let’s face it, they play an important role through the day! And they actually make for great accents in the photos.

GROOM’S WEDDING RING

It simplifies things if the groom ring is bundled with the bride’s rings at the beginning of the day so I can take pictures of them together, and it’s easy to deliver the rings to the ring bearer or best man before the ceremony.

SUIT COAT

Because this is likely your statement piece! If you have a vest with it, add that in as well.

Tie/Neck Wear

I’ll use this to show the pop of color in your detail photos.

JEWELRY

I know…jewelry sounds like a woman thing…but I’m not sure what else to call these, so jewelry it is! This can be your watch, cuff links, tie bar, earring, lapel pin, etc.

SHOES & SOCKS

Shoes, always a yes! I actually really love seeing the shoes grooms pick. I have seen such a cool variety over the years! Socks are optional if you include them or not. If they are colored or special, then definitely yes!

BOUTONNIERE

These are often all bundled with the bridal bouquet, but if you can have your groom bout with your groom details, that simplifies things!

EXTRAS

Really, I can’t write an exhaustive list because every groom is different and brings details that represent his unique personality. But here are a few more extras some grooms have: cologne, hanky, heirloom pieces, pocket square, cigar, cowboy hat, etc

BONUS TIP:

Wedding mornings tend to get a little chaotic here and there! A few days before your wedding get a shoe box or a bag and gather up all your details inside. Cuff links, cologne, tie, shoes, garter, anything! That way you know you have everything! When it’s all in one place I can come in and get to work right away and no one has to pause to dig through duffle bags to find who has the right box. It saves you time and worry, and gives me more time to take more detail pictures for you!

Perfect! I would have added anything that has been handed down too! Love the marble and silver grooms ring! I have never seen one like that! <3

    • Yes! I love the heirloom/handed down details! I actually plan on addressing that in Part 4 of this details series! And that groom’s ring was super cool! It is actually Strontium Aluminate with pieces of iron meteorite in it and it glows in the dark!!!
